Corrie fans play sleuth and think they've worked out what happens to Yasmeen after stabbing Geoff

Coronation Street fans were on the edge of their seats as they watched a desperate Yasmeen Metcalfe strike back and stab her abusive husband Geoff in Friday night's episode.

Viewers were left with a major cliffhanger after Yasmeen bottled Geoff then slashed his neck with the broken glass, and they're wondering if the bullying magician is still alive.

Next week we know Yasmeen is taken in for questioning and charged on Coronation Street, but fans think they've worked out how the character might be able to walk away a free woman.

Controlling Geoff had planted CCTV in the house to monitor his wife, and they reckon this will end up being the key to her freedom.

"Geoff forgetting the house being filmed so CCTV show she was doing it in self defence," tweeted one fan.

"Now we're gonna have to watch the whole street turn on Yasmeen and she'll be wrongly convicted," suggested another.

"Then, at the last possible minute, someone will find the CCTV Geoff installed."

"WOW!! I hope the CCTV is found soon," tweeted another viewer.

"I hope the CCTV, he ironically installed to spy on her, will be her saviour," commented another.

And another said: "Corrie was a tough watch tonight. "Beautifully done. Sad that her friends didn’t click on to what was happening and I’m hoping that the CCTV saves her."

Yasmeen lashed out with the wine bottle after cruel Geoff forced her to wear a dress bought for one of his escorts and mocked her by revealing who the outfit was really meant for.

He hurled insults and threw chips at a distressed Yasmeen before cornering her in the kitchen with a bread knife.

As Yasmeen cried in terror he spat: "Maybe I should kill you. "Do the world a favour.

"Nobody would notice if you were gone."

The soap has worked with the organisations Women's Aid and charity Independent Choices Greater Manchester on the coercive control story.

In horrifying scenes Geoff previously served up Yasmeen's beloved pet hen for dinner and Yasmeen recently tested positive for the sexually transmitted infection chlamydia after the hospital radio DJ and magician used escorts.

When quizzed by chat show host Lorraine Kelly this week actor Ian Bartholomew was staying tight-lipped on whether this was the end of his character.

Corrie senior storyliner Amy Coombs previously said the soap wanted to show with this storyline that domestic abuse doesn't have to just be physical.

It was announced last June that the soap was to explore the disturbing effects of coercive control relationships.

Since 2015 this form of abuse has been classed as a criminal offence and underpins 95 per cent of all abusive relationships.
