Corrie fans noticed something 'wrong' as police turned up at Kevin's house

Amused Coronation Street fans were scratching their heads over scenes in Wednesday night's episodes featuring Jack Webster.

Jack got into trouble after a worried Abi Franklin told her partner Kevin she’d heard whispers that Weatherfield County footballer Tommy Orpington had been lined up as a character witness for Corey Brent.

Abi was beside herself to learn later that Corey’s identity had been leaked online on a Tommy Orpington fansite, meaning the trial of the teen accused of murdering her son Seb could potentially collapse.

Jack immediately owned up, saying he'd only wanted to help by letting people know what bully Corey had done.

As Kevin tried to reassure him, the doorbell rang and his dad brought in a police officer.

Fans were amazed to see that it wasn't neighbourhood PC Craig Tinker who Corrie fans have previously joked is the 'only PC in the whole of Weatherfield.'

It wasn't Craig (Corrie)

And they flocked to social media as the officer gave Jack a warning.

"Hang on, there's another police officer other than Craig?!?" gasped one fan on Twitter.

"Where’s PC Tinker!!!!" asked another.

PC Craig Tinker played by Colson Smith (ITV)

"It’s not PC Tinker.....I reckon he’s on nights this week!" joked another soap watcher.

"Surely that’s wrong, it’s not PC Tinker," another wondered.

"Wheres our Craigy?" asked another fan.

"It’s not Craig" another viewer pointed out.

"Oh. Was Craig busy...?" another asked.

And another asked: "Where’s the only copper in Weatherfield??? PC Tinker having a day off??"

Next week the trial of Corey and Kelly Neelan will be screened as well as harrowing flashbacks scenes as Nina Lucas finally remembers what happened when she and her boyfriend Seb Franklin were chased and set upon by a vile gang led by Corey.

The powerful storyline was inspired by the real-life tragedy of 20-year-old Sophie Lancaster who died in 2007 after she and her boyfriend Robert Maltby were set upon because they were members of the goth subculture.

Her mum Sylvia feels immensely proud that the Manchester soap she and Sophie enjoyed watching together is now shining a light on her story.

Sylvia, who founded The Sophie Lancaster Foundation in memory of Sophie who was murdered for the way she looked, has worked with Corrie with the mission of tackling hate crime through the heartbreaking story of Nina and Seb.
