Corrie fans not impressed with hospital blunder as Toyah quizzes Abi about baby

Coronation Street viewers were not impressed as they tuned into the latest instalment of the ITV soap.

Wednesday's episode saw Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) end up in hospital again after crashing a car just hours after giving birth to a baby boy.

Toyah Battersby ended up finding out about the newborn after calling Abi's phone and a policeman answered.

When Toyah realised Abi had been in an accident, she rushed to the local hospital and told a member of staff on reception that she was a good friend of Abi's.

The doctor proceeded to go into Abi's condition and Toyah was shocked when she heard him mention a "placenta".

Coronation Street's Toyah Battersby arrived at hospital and asked a nurse about Abi Franklin's condition (ITV)

Looking stunned, Toyah asked: "Sorry, did you say she had a baby?" and the nurse suddenly realised that they might not be such good friends after all.

At that exact moment, Aggie Bailey walked past and Toyah was quick to ask her if it was true.

Aggie looked annoyed that the nurse had divulged such private information - and so were viewers watching at home.

Taking to Twitter, one person posted: " Hospitals give out information to anyone now so they? Funny that Aggie happened to mysteriously appear! #corrie."

Another person commented: "These doctors have no patient confidentiality at all, blurting out that she’s had a baby #corrie."

A third person wrote: "No such thing as patient/doctor confidentiality in #Corrie is there."

And another viewer added: "What? Dr just told Toyah all that? #corrie."

Abi was devastated when she realised it won't be so easy for her to take her newborn home due to her drug taking (ITV)

Someone else asked: "What happened to patient confidentiality #corrie."

Toyah still managed to get into Abi's room and quizzed her about her newborn son and the baby's father - but she has no idea that Abi had a one night stand with Imran Habeeb.

Toyah tried to convince Abi not to give up the baby, and her words seemed to do the trick as Abi changed her mind as she spoke to a woman from social services.

However, because Abi was high on drugs when she gave birth, she was told that it won't be so easy for her to take her child home.

The episode ended with Abi in tears as she realised her situation and that she may have to come clean about Imran being the baby's biological father.
