Corrie fans convinced Yasmeen's cellmate in prison has dark connection to Geoff

Coronation Street 's Yasmeen Nazir has made a new friend in prison, who lent her a mobile phone so she could call her abusive ex husband Geoff Metcalfe.

She also lent Yasmeen a book on coercive control, encouraging Yasmeen to speak to Geoff and take back some power.

Yasmeen called Geoff from her cell while her friend guarded the door, checking no one was coming and encouraging Yasmeen during the conversation.

Some viewers made dark predictions about the cell mate, believing she is a bad influence and has a secret link to Geoff, doing his bidding.

One tweeted: "i don’t trust yasmeens friend one bit #Corrie ".

"I’m gonna guess that Yasmeen’s prison friend is related to Geoff #Corrie " wrote another.

Another viewer replied, predicting: "Ex wife".

"I hate Yasmeen's new friend. She is such a bad influence," declared another.

However, other fans were delighted to see Yasmeen making friends in prison while she awaits her attempted murder trial.

"Glad Yasmeen is making a new friend" wrote one.

"I’m happy that Yasmeen have a friend in prison that she can talk to! #Corrie " added a second.

"i love how yasmeen is spending her time in prison reading books and making friends, how wholesome #corrie " gushed a third.

While on the phone to Yasmeen, Geoff said he forgave her for stabbing him because it was not the real her, but someone he "helped create".

He promised he would get her off the attempted murder charge, and that if they got back together, "things would be different".

"How could you be that deluded Geoff?" asked Yasmeen.

"Even if I were to be released, and it's a huge if, how can we find a way back together again?"

"I love you, that's how," insisted Geoff, the bottle scars on his neck showing.

"I'm going to get some professional help," he promised, as Yasmeen said she struggled to believe him.

He admitted he had "issues", and said that he was abused by his ex Tessa, Tim's mum, and that was why he behaved the way he did.

Their call was cut short as Yasmeen's friend warned someone was coming, but not before Yasmeen heard Geoff say: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry for not being what you deserve."
