Corrie fans confused by 'missing' detail in Sam kidnap plot

Corrie viewers were relieved that plucky youngster Sam Blakeman returned to his parents safe and well in tonight's double bill following a kidnap ordeal.

Sam, played by Jude Riordan, was snatched in heartbreaking scenes during Friday's episode of the ITV soap and fans were left worried for his safety.

He was lured into the back of a van by one of drugs lord Harvey's henchmen to draw his dad Nick Tilsley out of hiding.

Sharon Bentley, the aunt of evil Harvey, allowed him to be taken to get information on Nick's whereabouts with his partner Leanne who is in witness protection for reporting her nephew.

Viewers saw a brave and hungry Sam shouting for the driver's attention in the darkness before finding a wind-up radio and a packet of crisps.

But they were baffled when the kidnap drama scenes cut to his parents Nick and Natasha being told by police that he'd been found and was in hospital being checked over.

Viewers wondered how Sam managed to get out of the van and grumbled that this detail wasn't explained.

They took to Twitter to have their say.

"So how did he get out of the van?" asked one.

"Hey we missed a bit ... how did the Sam thing happen?" asked another soap watcher.

Another quizzed: "What?!? The last we see of Sam he was eating crisps and a sandwich then the van drove off."

In hospital Natasha and Nick smiled with relief as Sam regaled them with his tale of getting locked in the van after spotting a telescope inside.

Thinking it was just an accident they brushed it off and he was warned not to go snooping again.

Another confused fan tweeted to the soap: "#Corrie they didn't say how Sam was released - that would tell if it was an accident or not."

"Are they going to tell just how Sam got out of that van exactly?" asked another.

Other fans have praised the scenes with young talent Jude.

"Sam is just precious protect him and Natasha at ALL costs please," said one.

"I'm so pleased that Sam has been found. He's got a wealth of knowledge," said another.

Events then took a dark turn as Nick left the hospital only to find himself in a taxi driven by the same henchman who used the van to take Sam.

Handing Nick a burner phone, the thug told him that unless Leanne and her son Simon retract their evidence about Harvey, he’ll never see his precious son again.
