Coronation Street fans were not expecting a thrilling twist involving soap favourite Leanne Battersby in Friday night's epic soap double bill.
For months Leanne, played by Jane Danson, has been living under threat of violence from fearsome drugs lord Harvey Gaskell.
She was roped into working for twisted Harvey after her adopted son Simon Barlow started selling drugs for him to make ends meet for them after the death of her three-year-old son Oliver.

She eventually turned him over to police after agreeing to enter into a witness protection programme, but the soap villain plotted his revenge from behind bars.
On Monday night he escaped from a prison van after it collided with the Alahan's family car in a storm and he hunted Leanne down in Weatherfield.
After hunting her down Harvey looked set to kill Leanne with a wrench until he was swallowed up by a sinkhole.
The character, played by Will Mellor, then found the gun used by Abi Franklin after she went after teen killer Corey Brent.
He broke into Leanne and Nick Tilsley's flat and opened fire, preparing to kill Leanne, but shot Natasha Blakeman instead.
A terrified Leanne raced outside and got into the car, only to discover Harvey sitting next to her.
At first it looked like Leanne would drive the car just as Harvey had told her.
But in an unexpected turn of events, she drove it straight into a skip knowing the passenger seat airbag wasn’t turned on.
Harvey was knocked unconscious and the last viewers heard his pulse was weak, meaning he isn’t dead yet.
Fans were cheering at her change in character, saying it reminded them of the feisty Leanne who arrived on the Corrie cobbles with the Battersby clan back in 1997.
"There’s the Battersby we know and LOVE!!!! Cheering at the TV right now," tweeted one viewer.
"Love Leanne's fiesty Battersby side," exclaimed another.
"Hahaha omg Leanne!! She’s brilliant isn’t she?" gasped another viewer.
"GO Leanne!" another cheered.
And another soap watcher wrote: "Anybody else think Jane Danson would actually be great as the Fourteenth Doctor after that excellent scene where she outwitted Harvey in the car?"
Fans are now wondering if Harvey does pull through, what will that mean for Leanne and her family.
And Jane has teased that this is far from the end.
"Massive congratulations to our super cast and crew for super soap week @itvcorrie," she tweeted.
"Thanks for all the messages …its not over yet."
