Corrie court 'mystery man' unmasked by super sleuth Abi Franklin and fans are loving it

Corrie fans were left scratching their heads when a mystery man turned up in the courtroom during the ongoing trial of Corey Brent and Kelly Neelan for the murder of Seb Franklin.

The smartly-dressed man took his place in the public gallery of the court as the trial continued with murder accused Corey taking to the stand, followed by Eli Higginson, one of the two lads who have already pleaded guilty to the attack on Nina Lucas, and who backed Corey's version of events.

Seb's grieving mum Abi is desperate for justice to be done for her son - and has been keeping a watchful eye on proceedings in the latest Coronation Street scenes.

So when she spotted the mystery fella, she was quick to start doing her research and swiftly discovered something decidely dodgy about his links to the trial.

Abi, played by Sally Carman, has turned detective after becoming convinced that Corey's rich dad is paying off witnesses to back his son.

After some internet searching she soon established that the mystery man is in fact Eli Higginson's dad Christian - and that he had been recently pictured with Corey's dad Stefan (played by actor Paul Opacic ) on social media.

She continued to scroll into the early hours, with partner Kevin Webster urging her to call it a night.

But she then revealed her big discovery, saying: "I had to sign up to one of those career sites.

"Eli's dad has just announced a new job two weeks ago, senior logistics consultant at Corey's dad's company."

"Could just be a coincidence?" suggested Kevin.

But Abi continued: "Sounds made up to me, guess what job he did before that? Delivery driver. From minimum wage one week to desk job and company car the next, that's not climbing the ladder that's a flaming rocket ship.

"It means he's on the take and Corey's dad is doing the handouts."

Kevin suggested she need to take the evidence straight to the police.

"Don't worry I'm bringing this guy down," she said as the Friday night titles rolled.

Fans were loving Abi's sleuthing skills.

One tweeted: "Abi should become a detective bc let’s face it, she has proven in that one scene that she could do a better job!!

Another added: "P.I Abi is on the case"

A third said: "Nice one Abi go girl power".

It's not known if the character, who appeared in both Friday night episodes of the soap, will appear again in Corrie but the court trial will continue into next week.

He is played by Manchester actor Ronan Holdsworth, while the character of his son Eli is played by Liam Scholes.

Soap fans are desperate for Corey to get his comeuppance for the murder of Seb - after viewers finally got to see what really happened to the murdered youngster in gruesome flashback scenes earlier this week.

It showed for the first time that Corey DID kill Seb, kicking him repeatedly while he was lying defenceless on the ground, as Kelly tried to pull him away and screamed for him to stop.

But they will have to wait another week while the trial continues on the soap to see if justice will be served on the killer.
