Corrie cast Emmerdale legend in new role 17 years after racy ITV love triangle exit

Coronation Street has reportedly cast former Emmerdale star Zoe Lambert in a new role on the ITV soap.

The former Emmerdale actress played lawyer Rachel Whatmore on the ITV soap between 2003 and 2005, but is now set to move from the Dales to the cobbles.

Zoe will appear in a number of Corrie episodes later this year and is due to start filming scenes for the drama this week, The Sun reports.

While details of Zoe’s character are being kept under wraps, she will appear on screen in early June, according to insiders, in a short run of episodes.

Zoe’s character on Emmerdale was a favourite with soap fans, as she played Rachel, a solicitor working for the Tate family.

She initially worked with Chris Tate, played by Peter Amory, in the hopes of conning his then-wife Charity Dingle out of her money, under a masterplan to take his own life and frame Charity for his murder.

In another twist, Rachel became involved in a lesbian love affair with Chris' sister Zoe Tate, played by Leah Bracknell, before becoming embroiled in a shock love triangle plot with Zoe and Scott Windsor, played by Ben Freeman.

When Rachel then ended her and Zoe’s relationship, she left the village in 2005.

Eagle-eyed fans of the long-running soap also spotted Zoe popping up again in the Dales when she played another character in 2017.

She had a cameo as an irate woman called Eileen who gate-crashed Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Robert Sugden's (Ryan Hawley) wedding.

The actress has also had minor roles in shows including Tracey Beaker and The Royal Today.

This comes after the news that Coronation Street will welcome a former Hollyoaks star on the cobbles next week.

Sarah Lawrence, who played the role of Darlene Taylor between 2003 and 2006 on the Channel 4 soap, is heading over to ITV now.

Sarah will be playing a character called Viyona Lahiri, who is a reporter working for the Weatherfield Gazette, in scenes set to air next week.

Back in February, Sarah teased her new soap role when she shared a mirror selfie on Instagram wearing a Corrie location jacket while posing in the studio’s dressing room.

She captioned the post: "Cold. Cold. Cold. I never want to take this jacket off."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV.
