Corrie and Emmerdale to air special episodes tonight in Sunday schedule shake-up

Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans are set to be treated to an extra dose of the soaps this week as ITV will air episodes on Sunday.

From 6.30pm on ITV, viewers will be treated to a back-to-back helping of the soaps after they were cancelled multiple times following the Queen's death last week.

Emmerdale will air first this evening at the earlier time of 6.30pm, despite the fact it typically airs at 7.30pm on weekdays.

Then, ITV will move programming from the Dales to the cobbles, as Coronation Street follows at 7pm on the broadcaster – an hour earlier than its typical slot.

During the Emmerdale episode on Sunday, Liam returns home with Leyla but things are tense between the two of them.

Elsewhere in the village, Noah accepts a position as Marcus' apprentice and Bernice confronts Rishi over ditching her at lunch

Meanwhile, in Coronation Street the soap is teeing up the final exit storyline for Kelly Neelan in upcoming scenes.

On Sunday night, Gary is unhappy as Sharon visits Kelly to celebrate her engagement and begs her not to ruin Kelly's life by revealing he killed her dad.

Elsewhere in the cobbles courtroom, the jury delivers their verdict for Toyah and Spider announces he intends to stick around, meeting up with DS Swain to discuss his job as an undercover cop.

Earlier this week when Toyah confessed to intentionally killing Imran (ITV)

This comes after Coronation Street fans fear Toyah could be on the brink of learning Spider has betrayed her on the ITV soap, after viewers learnt of his secret profession.

The revelation came after explosive scenes earlier this week when Toyah (Georgia Taylor) confessed to intentionally killing her husband Imran.

On Thursday’s episode of the soap, Toyah then stood trial for the murder of Imran ( Charlie de Melo ), hot on the heels of her monumental confession to Spider (Martin Hancock) – prompting many fans to speculate her fate could be sealed.

Ahead of the courtroom scenes, Leanne pleaded with a nervous Toyah not to say something she'll regret in the trial, urging her to leave it to her solicitor.

Leanne walked in and heard a guilt-ridden Toyah confessing to Spider (ITV)

The prosecution painted her as a murderer, with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Kelly both called as witnesses.

Imran's mother Saira Habeeb (Kim Vithana) then told the court that she saw Toyah kissing Spider and she believed Toyah was having an affair – and so killed Imran on purpose.

Leanne defended her sister on the stand, leaving Toyah's guilt at an all-time high as she decided to take the stand after all.

However, given that Spider’s name arose in the testimony, Emmerdale fans think the undercover copper could become embroiled in the trail as a late addition.
