Corrie airs huge return for Weatherfield legend as arrival rocks residents

Coronation Street has aired a return for Weatherfield legend Linda Hancock ahead of the wedding.

Linda is back on the Cobbles for Gemma and Chesney's big day and it looks like her return has already ruffled some feathers for some of the current residents. In scenes airing on tonight's episode, Linda made her return to Weatherfield to help Chesney and Gemma prepare for their wedding day, which will take place very very soon.

As she chatted about the wedding plans, Linda asked what they had done for catering and what guests could expect from the wedding buffet. It was then Gemma revealed they had got a local bakery, who did pies and pastries, to cater.

However, Linda didn't seem impressed and offered to pay for something much more luxurious, leaving Bernie seething.

Linda was last on screens when she convinced Joseph to move away with her to Portugal in the hope of a better life, after he was being constantly bullied for his parents' lack of money and the ability to buy him presents. At the time, Chesney seemed convinced that Linda could give Joseph a better life and let Linda make plans to take him away.

"We won't be giving him away. We'll be letting him enjoy a better life," he told Gemma, who thoroughly disagreed.

In the emotional scenes, Chesney said he would accept Joseph's decision as "for once he was putting Joseph first".

The group all gathered outside No.5 to say goodbye to Joseph, but in the last moment, Chesney explained how he really felt.

Joseph admitted to Hope that he wanted to be able to stay with his family, and had actually decided to leave because he thought it would be easier for them because he felt they couldn't 'afford' one another.

Hope passed on this message, leaving Chesney to remind his son how much he meant to him.

"Please don't go. I love you. We all love you. We wouldn't be a family without you," Chesney told Joseph, before saying his son was a "blessing" and "everything to him" before the young man decided to stay with his family in Weatherfield.
