Leslie Reichert said that if your water starts to smell a little different or doesn't taste as fresh, then it's time to change your habits and start washing the bottle much more frequently.
She said that germs, mould, and mildew thrive in moist and dark places so the inside of a water bottle is the perfect place, so they need to be washed after every single use.
Her tips are quick and simple, so you can start working them into your daily routine right away - and it's probably a good idea to do so.

She said that with a screw-top bottle, it is important to separate the two pieces and run both of them through the dishwasher - provided it is safe for your type to do so.
She said with more complicated tops, you have to get a bottle brush to scrub the bottom of the bottle and a smaller one to clean the lid.
Then she said that from time to time you should use fizzy cleaning tablets, dropping the bottle into the water with the tablet and letting it sit overnight.
