Corowa Rutherglen is the latest regional football netball club to withdraw from the upcoming season following a shortage of players.
Last night members voted on the board's recommendation to sit out of senior football and netball for the 2023 season.
There were 84 votes in favour and two opposing the motion.
"There was a real sadness that this decision had to be made," club secretary Rowena Black said.
"There were past players there who had been connected to the club for decades and they had a tear in their eye and they were really heartbroken that it had come to this."
Too many clubs
Four clubs locally, including the Roos, have had challenges attracting players from the small community.
"There are just a lot of clubs in the area. There are too many playing spots and not enough players," Ms Black said.
"It's just the way that the football landscape is in this area and it's just been really difficult."
The club will look at ways to keep players interested in signing to local clubs and whether there are too many clubs in the area.
"It's a football and netball community thing that we all need to have a discussion about and see what the best way forward is," she said.
"We need to be very open to any conversation or formal meetings with any clubs because there are other clubs that are finding it difficult to find players too."
About 10 senior players who had signed to the club will play for other clubs this year.
Ms Black said she was confident those players would return next season.
