Coroner to examine death of man after crash

An inquest has opened into the death of a 41-year-old man who is provisionally believed to have died of multiple injuries.

Gordon Clow, Assistant Coroner for Nottinghamshire, laid out the bare details behind the passing of Philip Stephen McGuigan at a virtual hearing at Nottingham's Council House on Tuesday (May 25).

Inquests are being held virtually during the pandemic to keep numbers at hearings to a minimum.

Family members joined the link for the opening and adjourment of the inquest into the death of Mr McGuigan, who passed away on April 4, 2021.

He died on Blyth Road, Oldcotes, Worksop, the inquest was told.

His identity was confirmed to Mr Clow.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and the provisional cause of death was multiple injuries as a result of a road traffic collision.

Mr Clow adjourned for further inquiries and the inquest will resume on a date to be fixed in the future.
