Coroner opens inquests into deaths of 3 men in Nottinghamshire

The inquests into the deaths of three men in Nottinghamshire have been opened by the coroner.

Assistant coroner Gordon Clow touched on the deaths of Alexandru Sava, 31, Bartlomiej Blazej Janiak, 38 and Grzegorz Miech, 38, during a virtual hearing at Nottingham Council House on May 12.

Mr Clow first opened the inquest into the death of Mr Sava, who was born on February 25, 1990.

He died on April 11 this year in Memorial Avenue in Worksop and was identified by his ex-partner in the Queen's Medical Centre mortuary.

Nottinghamshire Police at the time reported the incident as a non-suspicious sudden death.

Mr Clow told the hearing: "A post-mortem has been carried out. The cause of death is not yet known, but evidence suggests that he may have died at his own hand."

The inquest was adjourned pending further enquiries.

Mr Clow then opened an inquest into the death of Mr Janiak, who was born on February 3, 1983.

Mr Janiak died on April 23 after being struck by a train in the New Road area of Nottingham, near the Radford Road junction.

He was 38.

"Mr Janiak was identified by fingerprint by the British Transport Police," Mr Clow said.

"A post-mortem has been carried out. His death occurred after being struck by a train."

The inquest was adjourned until a future date.

The final inquest touched on the death of Grzegorz Miech, who was born on January 28, 1982.

He died on January 12 earlier this year.

Mr Clow told the hearing: "He was found at a business address in Worksop, Watson Road.

"He was identified by a work colleague at the address. A post-mortem has been carried out and the cause of death is given as 1A coronary artery thrombosis, 1B acute toxic effect of amphetamine and coronary atheroma.

"I would like to express my sincere condolences to his family for his passing."
