Coroner opens inquest into death of woman, 55, after crash in Cotgrave

Crash experts are drawing up a report into the death of a woman who was involved in a collision at Cotgrave.

Diane Bull's inquest was opened and adjourned at the Council House. No details were given of the incident which involved a lorry and two cars on Stragglethorpe Road.

It happened on March 18 and Mrs Bull was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre, where she died that day.

Assistant Nottinghamshire Coroner Jane Gillespie outlined formal details of the case.

She said that the 55-year-old was identified by a relative in the hospital's chapel of rest.

The coroner said that Mrs Bull is survived by her son Graham Bond.

She added: "A police investigation, led by a forensic collision team, is ongoing. This inquest will be adjourned for a date to be confirmed.

"I express the very deepest sympathy to Mrs Bull's family and her friends. That concludes this hearing."

Mrs Bull lived in Cropwell Bishop.

Ambulance crews, police and fire engines were called to the crash at around 3.40pm. While immediate enquiries continued, the highway stayed shut until around 2.30am the next morning.

The investigation involved a plea for motorists to hand over footage from any dashboard cameras.

When the enquiries are complete, the coroner will set a date for witnesses to give evidence.
