Coroner names man killed in British Columbia after being hit by passenger train

SPENCES BRIDGE, B.C. — The coroners service in British Columbia has identified the 40-year-old Kelowna man hit and killed by a train near Spences Bridge.

Coroner Larry Marzinzik says Jonathan Christopher Harris died early Saturday morning.

Harris was on the tracks when he was hit by a Via Rail passenger train about 35-kilometres northeast of Lytton.

Marzinzik says investigators have not yet determined why Harris was on the tracks or why he didn't hear the approaching locomotive.

No one on the train was hurt.  (CHNL)
