Coronavirus: Woman threatened to 'cut someone up' if they didn't stay two metres away

A woman threatened to "cut someone up" if they got too close during coronavirus lockdown.

Julia Harris was seen with a pair of scissors in Totterdown, Bristol Crown Court heard.

Harris was heard telling someone: "Stay two metres away or I'll cut you up," before she brandished the cutting tool, the court heard.

The 40-year-old, of Totterdown, pleaded guilty to possessing a blade and using threatening behaviour on April 13.

Judge James Patrick was due to pass sentence on her today (July 22).

But he deferred sentence to November 23.

The case was not attended by a prosecutor from the Crown Prosecution Service and the judge has asked for an explanation as to why not.

He told Harris: "You are very lucky not to be going straight into custody.

"I'm going to give you a chance. No further offences, and back in front of me in four months' time on November 23.

"If you keep out of trouble I won't send you inside and make good progress with your existing order and I won't send you inside.

"Otherwise you are looking at prison. It is your choice."
