Coronavirus: What to do if you want to refund your Glastonbury ticket

Several events have already been cancelled due to coronavirus but one that remains a concern for many is Glastonbury 2020 .

The UK's biggest music festival released the lineup for its 50th anniversary year last night (March 12) despite growing concern it may be cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19, reports The Mirror.

Organiser Emily Eavis said they are keeping their fingers crossed, writing: "As things stand we are still working hard to deliver our 50th anniversary Festival in June and we are very proud of the bill that we have put together over the last year or so.

"No one has a crystal ball to see exactly where we will all be 15 weeks from now, but we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it will be here at Worthy Farm for the greatest show on Earth!"

However, if you've brought a ticket to the festival but are thinking of getting a refund, here's what you should know.

If large-scale gatherings are banned to prevent the spread of the virus, many people will want to know what this means if they have tickets for an event coming up this year.

Adam French, consumer rights expert at Which?, said: “If you’re affected by any cancellations, hold on to your tickets as you may be entitled to a refund of at least the face value of the ticket, even if the date changes. However, you may have fewer protections if the ticket was purchased through a secondary ticket seller.

“If you are unsuccessful, you can try to get a refund by contacting your credit or debit card provider to see if a chargeback or section 75 claim is possible.”

In the event that Glastonbury is postponed to later in the year, but you can’t make the rescheduled dates, you will still be able ask for your money back.

Organisers of Glastonbury Festival have previously said: "We continue to plan and prepare for the event, while at the same time closely monitoring developments with the coronavirus situation."
