Coronavirus: Watch viral drone footage of 'haunting' Edinburgh streets in lockdown

The country has been in lockdown for nearly a week and, with residents safely in their homes, Edinburgh's city centre has been left looking like a ghost town.

Drone footage has emerged showing how eerily quiet the centre of town is as coronavirus turns typically bustling areas into empty streets.

The clip takes viewers on a journey down the Royal Mile, Princes Street and even features Greyfriars Bobby in the Grassmarket, with hardly any pedestrians to be seen.

The video, produced by Jamie Hodgson, has already racked up over 8,000 views on YouTube and has since been shared over 16,000 times in one post on social media.

One person said: "This is haunting but absolutely incredible. This is the 1st & hopefully the last time we will ever see something like this in our lifetime. Thank you Edinburgh."

"Wow...sad" said another, while many users commented that they were proud of Edinburgh for complying with the social distancing rules.
