Coronavirus Ireland: Videos show Dublin uniting to pay tribute to our amazing frontline healthcare workers in heartfelt show of solidarity

Dubliners united this evening in a unique show of solidarity with our brave frontline healthcare workers who are putting their lives at risk in the war against coronavirus.

Not even social distancing could stop the nation coming together to show their appreciation for the nurses, doctors, paramedics, pharmacists and every health worker working around the clock help others in the face of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

As the clock stuck 8pm, residents across the city took part from their front doors, balconies, gardens and flat windows to ring out a heartfelt round of applause for those HSE workers who are sacrificing their own safety to tend to absolute strangers.

Others sang, more still beeped their car horns while some residents bashed saucepan lids, drums or whatever they could find to let our overworked yet stoic healthcare heroes know that we’re thankful for their tireless and endlessly selfless efforts.

And our wonderful legion of loyal readers have been quick to send in videos of their communities’ tributes to those dressed in blue, from hospital porters, cleaners, caterers, student nurses and those health workers who have come out of retirement to join in the fight against conronavirus.

And also to salute the gardai, firefighters, and other emergency servicewomen and men who continue to strive to keep us safe in this most strange and difficult of times.

Spare a thought too for those workers such as shop clerks, bus and taxi drivers, and other workers who continue to have to carry out essential work to keep the country going.

And remember everyone, be kind, be safe, and respect the rules of social distancing. Together, we will get through this.
