Coronavirus updates: 31 more deaths and 992 more cases of Covid-19 confirmed

A tragic 31 more people have died as 992 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the Republic of Ireland this evening.

An additional 527 new cases were reported by Irish labs while 465 cases were confirmed by German laboratories.

The cases returned from Germany were backlogged tests taken in previous weeks.

The latest figures bring the death toll to 365 and the total number of cases in the Republic to 10,647.

Out of the deaths reported at a Department of Health briefing on Monday evening, 18 were women and 13 were men.

There were 26 deaths in the east, three in the north-west, one in the south and one in the west.

The median age of the deceased was 82. 25 of those who passed away had underlying health conditions.

Meanwhile, six more people have died in Northern Ireland after contracting coronavirus, it has emerged.

It brings the total who have died after getting Covid-19 in the region to 124.

Northern Ireland's total number of cases has also risen by 76 to 1,882.

As of 9.15am today, 12,633 individuals have been tested across Northern Ireland for the disease, according to the Public Health Agency.

Since yesterday, 434 tests have been carried out.
