Coronavirus Update: Contact tracing continues across weekend, trial HSC exams to proceed

Hunter New England Health's public health team is working across the weekend in an effort to locate potential further contacts of a family coronavirus cluster that closed St Pius X,Adamstown and St Francis Xavier's College, Hamilton this week.

Three brothers in the family tested positive but not their parents.

A subsequent rush to screening centres across Newcastle on Friday has not yet produced any new confirmed cases.

The two schools underwent extensive cleaning following the positive test results.

St Francis Xavier's College said it did not expect the coronavirus disruption would affect the upcoming Higher School Certificate trial examinations.

"We expect most students will be able to attend as per their individual timetables. For students who have been affected, we will follow NSW Education Standards Authority guidelines regarding assessment, which are in place to ensure that no student is disadvantaged," Principal Greg Ptolemy said in a statement on Friday night that
