Coronavirus: Undertaker's tragic poem to COVID-19 Dublin victim who was cremated with 'no loved ones' there

A Dublin undertaker has penned a tragic poem to one of the latest victims of COVID-19 who he laid to rest with no family or friends by his side.

Sent in anonymously to Dublin Live, the undertaker said he penned the tragic short story immediately after the tragic victim had been cremated.

Titled COVID-19, the funeral worker told Dublin Live his life has changed forever following the mass cremations he has witnessed since the start of the pandemic in Ireland.

Here's his tragic letter to the victim:

"Today I'm taking him away, COVID-19 the nurses say. With goggles and masks, suit and gloves, coffin and hearse but no one he loves.

"Daughters and sons in isolation. Social distancing the main conversation. Underlying health problems the papers say. No funeral mass no long eulogy.

Straight to the cemetery, pass through the gates. None of his family not one of his mates

"Passed the heroes of a lost generation, next to the tower for his cremation.

"When you see me driving by, don't despair, try not to sigh. Just think of him and say goodbye.

"By A. Hearse. Driver."
