Boris Johnson has said that the UK coronavirus outbreak could thaw by summer if the public stick to the government's advice.
Speaking during today's Downing Street press conference, Mr Johnson said: "We can turn the tide within the next 12 weeks and I’m confident we can send coronavirus packing in this country - only if we take the steps we have outlined."
The PM also said the first British patient had been put in a randomised trial for a treatment for coronavirus and that vaccine trials should "start within a month".
It comes as the Department of Health said on Thursday that 144 people in the UK have died after testing positive for Covid-19, while 3,269 cases have been confirmed - an increase of 643.
