Coronavirus UK LIVE: Death toll jumps by 684 as Brits warned 'people will die' if lockdown broken at weekend

"People will die" if Brits flout the nationwide lockdown during this weekend's mini-heatwave, the Government has warned.

Matt Hancock issued the stark warning at Friday's Covid-19 press briefing, saying: "We can not relax our discipline now, if we do people will die."

It comes as the UK's coronavirus patient death toll surged by 684, taking the overall figure beyond 3,000.

Meanwhile, the Queen has announced she will give a televised speech on the pandemic this Sunday.
