(Picture: PA Wire)The UK recorded 48,161 new Covid cases on Sunday and 26 deaths, according to official government figures.
It comes ahead of the lifting of all coronavirus restrictions tomorrow, known as ‘Freedom Day’.
Prof Neil Ferguson from Imperial College London and a member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), said it will be three weeks until the impact of unlocking is known.
He told Andrew Marr that infections will “almost certainly” reach 100,000 daily cases, but could reach double that figure.
The government is expected to make an announcement about whether British children will be vaccinated tomorrow.
According to the Sunday Telegraph children will only receive a jab if they are vulnerable or live vulnerable adults.
