Dublin Civil Defence Forces have paid tribute to a fallen comrade who has tragically died after battling COVID-19.
Father-of-four Dave Redmond was a former member of the Casualty Service in Dundrum and sadly lost his fight with coronavirus at Tallaght Hospital on Tuesday night.
The Defence Forces said: “Sad to report the passing of Dave Redmond from COVID 19, former member of the Casualty Service in Dundrum.
They added: “Dave was the eldest Brother of Claire Bligh of the Warden Service. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time. RIP."
Heartbroken relatives have found it extremely hard to come to terms with the tragic news.
One close family member told Dublin Live that they were finding it "very hard to cope" following David's sudden death at the hands of the virus.
A post on RIP.ie for David (Davie) Redmond reads: "Redmond (Dublin) April 7th, 2020 peacefully after a short illness at Tallaght Hospital, David (Davie) late of Springfield Court, Celbridge and formerly of Nutgove Avenue, Churchstown.
"Beloved father of Patricia, Gerard, Deirdre and Bernard. Sadly missed by his loving children and their mother Una, his grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
"In line with Government and HSE advice regarding public gatherings, a small private funeral will take place.
"Please feel free to leave a message of sympathy for the family in the 'condolence; section marked below at the bottom of the page.
"A Memorial Service for David will take place at a later date when the restrictions have been lifted. "
