Coronavirus testing unit will open at Nottingham park and ride

A coronavirus mobile testing unit will be set up at a park and ride in Nottingham city centre.

The tram operator NET Tweeted about the facility and said it would open at The Forest park and ride, off Gregory Boulevard in Forest Fields, from Saturday, September 19, until Wednesday, September 23.

The unit will be in operation from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

"Anyone requiring a test must book through the NHS," NET Tweeted.

A spokesman for NET confirmed the facility would be based at the car park of the tram stop.

It comes after new test centres were announced for areas of Broxtowe after a spike in coronavirus cases.

Recent figures have shown there have been 100 new coronavirus cases recorded in Nottingham in the seven days up to September 13.

More than 30 known schools in the region have reported positive cases of coronavirus since pupils started back for the new term.
