Coronavirus testing site in Bristol closes due to flash flooding

A Bristol coronavirus testing site has been forced to suddenly close due to flash flooding.

The Brislington Park and Ride Covid testing site has been temporarily shut after huge downpours hit the city earlier today (July 7).

A spokesperson for Bristol City Council said: "The Brislington Park and Ride COVID-19 testing site has been temporarily closed due to flash flooding.

"If you have a test booked here, you will receive a message redirecting you to your nearest possible site.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Downpours hit the city around 3pm on Wednesday and lasted for around half an hour.

Traffic monitoring site Inrix shows delays in the area: "Slow traffic on A4 Bath Road Brislington Hill in both directions at A4174 Callington Road."

Council officials also confirmed today that the asymptomatic walk-in test site at Bristol Harbour, Hanover Quay, is now closed due to low uptake of the facility.
