Many more people will now be able to get tested for coronavirus, following an announcement by the Health Secretary.
During the daily briefing at 10 Downing Street Matt Hancock outlined the plans to ramp up testing.
He said that capacity had expanded significantly and so they would be able to offer tests to more groups of people.
Mr Hancock said that testing will be expanded to all care home residents and staff, regardless of whether they have Covid-19 symptoms.
Mr Hancock said: "Building on successful pilots, we will be rolling out testing of asymptomatic residents and staff in care homes in England, and to patients and staff in the NHS.
"This will mean that anyone who is working or living in a care home will be able to get access to a test whether they have symptoms or not.
"I am determined to do everything I can to protect the most vulnerable."
All those aged 65 and over with symptoms and their households can also now be tested.
Construction workers, plumbers, people who work in manufacturing and all those who can’t work from home who have symptoms can also now be tested, along with their families.
He said: "From construction workers to emergency plumbers, from research scientists to those in manufacturing, the expansion of access to testing will protect the most vulnerable and help keep people safe.
"It's possible because we've expanded capacity for testing thus far."
