Coronavirus test site set up in middle of Nottingham shopping street

A rapid testing facility has been set up in the middle of a busy shopping street in Nottingham city centre.

The mobile testing unit popped up in the Albert Street and Lister Gate area of the city on Thursday, November 11.

It is open to anyone passing by who feels like they should get tested despite experiencing no symptoms.

It comes after city councillors told public health officials in Nottingham not enough people knew where they could obtain a lateral flow test.

Councillors wanted to see more signage pointing to the rapid test site at the Forest Recreation Ground, urging people to get tested on the way in to work.

The new test unit offers a result within 30 minutes and is positioned outside the Marks & Spencer store, clearly visible to anyone passing by.

A large red sign says: "Protect your family. One in three people have no symptoms. Walk-ins welcome."
