Coronavirus: Teen, 17, with no underlying health conditions dies with Covid

A 17-year-old with no underlying health conditions has died after contracting coronavirus, the latest figures show.

This patient was one of 279 more people to die with the virus - bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in English hospitals to 83,529.

The South West once again recorded the lowest daily death toll of 12. North East and Yorkshire reported the highest tally of 58.

Patients were aged between 17 and 102 years old. Eleven people from today's total did not have an underlying health condition, they were aged between 17 to 89 years old.

Dates of deaths ranged from 3 December 2020 to 1 March, with the majority being on or after 21 February.

Their families have been informed.

The number of deaths of patients with Covid-19 by region are as follows:

  • East of England - 26
  • London - 26
  • Midlands - 54
  • North East & Yorkshire - 58
  • North West - 57
  • South East – 46
  • South West – 12

One coronavirus death - in all settings - was confirmed in Gloucestershire today (March 2), and three in Somerset.

No Covid deaths were recorded in Bristol today.
