Coronavirus: Susanna Reid shares concern as she leaves isolation for GMB return

Susanna Reid has spoken about her "bizarre" lockdown experience as she made her return to Good Morning Britain return on Tuesday morning.

ITV presenter Susanna joined co-star Piers Morgan on-air two weeks after deciding to self-isolate amid the coronavirus outbreak in the UK, and worldwide.

The COVID-19 pandemic has escalated since her decision, which came before the government put the country on lockdown, as cases and deaths increased rapidly.

Susanna decided not to appear in the studio, and appeared via live video link instead, after her son showed symptoms.

She and her family isolated themselves indoors, and now the quarantine period is over she has made her return.

Speaking about the decision when restrictions began to change, she confirmed she still had no symptoms - while she and Piers aired concern over the isolation period.

Those who show symptoms of the virus, such as a cough, or believe they have it are told to isolate for 7 days, and those in a household or in contact with said person must stay inside for 14 days.

Piers made the point that Susanna and her family may not even have had the virus, and could now be opening themselves up to contracting COVID-19 now that they're out of that two week period.

After welcoming her back, Piers said to Dr Hilary: "None of you may have had the virus this is the problem, Susanna and her sons might go out into the big wild world and one of them might get it."

Susanna admitted she didn't know if she or her family had the strain, as she too questioned the differing isolation rules.

She was convinced to take two weeks off after prime minister Boris Johnson advised if anyone within a household has a cough or a fever, all those in the house must isolate.

It was announced on Monday that she would be back alongside Piers on the show.

Her co-host Piers appeared delighted with the news as he told her this morning: "Thank god, you’re on your last day of self-isolating. We get you back tomorrow."

Piers had previously joked Susanna was bending the truth so she could get a few days off work.

Susanna had appeared upbeat as she chatted from her home and told viewers she had no symptoms of the virus herself.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
