Coronavirus sport news LIVE: Man City vs Arsenal postponed as Premier League is hit for first time

Welcome to the Evening Standard's LIVE coverage of the latest disruption caused to sporting events by the coronavirus outbreak.

Breaking news on Tuesday evening saw Manchester City's home game with Arsenal postponed due as a precautionary measure.

A number of Arsenal players and staff met infected Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis 13 days prior and must now enter self-isolation.

The news followed Chelsea's Champions League trip to face Bayern Munich being moved behind closed doors, with Manchester United's away trip to face LASK in the Europa League suffering the same fate.

Earlier in the day, this year’s Cheltenham Festival got under way under the cloud of the Covid-19 threat, while further sporting events continue to be hit by the outbreak.

On Monday, Six Nations organisers confirmed that France vs Ireland would be postponed, following England’s match in Italy, leaving Wales vs Scotland as the only remaining fixture of the final ‘Super Saturday’.
