Shawlands bar and restaurant Gulp closes doors for good

A bar, restaurant and occasional small gig venue in Shawlands have announced they have closed their doors for good.

Gulp in Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands announced the news today, after closing in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bosses said: "Southsiders, we’re so sorry we’ve not spoken much on social media. It’s been a long & complicated few months for a lot of people, including ourselves.

"Unfortunately we have to say goodbye to you all one last time. We loved every minute of being part of Shawlands, making friends with customers we’ll never forget, getting to know the insanely talented Southside hospitality crew, crazy community groups, working til our legs nearly fell off, laughing with you all and most importantly the many many many dogs.

"We think we achieved our goal of creating a safe, inclusive, laid back space with cracking music & better food & drinks. We’re just devastated it couldn’t continue. Thanks to everyone who ever got in, got their bum on a seat & gave us a chance, we literally wouldn’t be the people we are today without your support."

Gulp closed earlier in March but kept up on social media, as well as painting their windows as a tribute to Black Lives Matter.
