Coronavirus Scotland: Today's figures show 915 Scots confirmed dead while number of Ayrshire cases passes 600

The number of people who have died after contracting the coronavirus in Scotland has risen to 915, it has been announced today.

That is an increase of 12 from yesterday.

In the Ayrshire and Arran region another 18 people have tested positive for coronavirus.

The confirmation means that the total number of confirmed people with the deadly virus in the region has risen to 604.

Data released by the Scottish Government also shows 129 residents are in hospital in the region, with 11 of those currently in intensive care.

A total of 8,450 people have now tested positive in Scotland - a daily rise of 263.

In this country 167 patients who tested positive were in intensive care last night.

So far 40,700 tests have been conducted in Scotland with 32,250 of them coming back as negative.
