Coronavirus Scotland: SPFL matches could be affected as Nicola Sturgeon issues warning

Kilmarnock's SPFL Premiership matches could be at risk as the coronavirus spreads further.

Gatherings with more than 500 people could be shutdown as per instructions from the government.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is set to announce a ban on large gatherings amid the growing coronavirus crisis in Scotland.

She said that it would be “inappropriate to continue as normal” to MSPs at Holyrood this afternoon.

A ban would mean that any gathering of more than 500 people would be cancelled from Monday next week.

Speaking ahead of a Cobra meeting with other UK leaders, the First Minister said: “Mass gatherings are required to be policed, they require to have emergency ambulance cover, they require the services of our voluntary health services, and at a time when we need to be reducing the pressures on these frontline workers in order to free them up on the significant challenge that lies ahead, I do think it is inappropriate that we continue as normal.”

Killie's first match after the projected timescale is away to Motherwell on March 21 before a home clash with Livingston on April 4.
