Coronavirus Scotland: Ryanair grounds all flights for two months amid coronavirus crisis

Budget flight operator Ryanair has grounded all passenger flights until further notice amid the Coronavirus crisis.

In a statement, the firm said they would offer up their aircraft to European governments and would still fly supplies like medicine.

But it added they "did not expect" to be making any journeys in April or May and that anyone who had already booked would receive an email with their "options".

Ryanair, which also operate the Lauda, Air Malta and Buss services, said it would now carry out rescue flights.

The statement read: "As a group of airlines we expect most of our flights to be grounded from Tuesday, March 24 onwards.

"We are continuing to work with EU governments on rescue flights to return stranded passengers to their home country.

"At this time no-one knows how long this Covid shutdown will last.

"We do not expect to be operating flights in April or May at this time, but this will clearly depend upon government advice, and we will in all cases comply with these instructions.

"While the immediate future is uncertain, it is important to remember that, like all pandemics, the crisis will pass."
