A call centre in Edinburgh operated by NHS 24 has seen a small number of coronavirus cases identified.
NHS Lothian confirmed the cases and said they were working to contain any transmission. Those who have been identified as a close contact have been asked to self-isolate.
Based in South Queensferry, the call handlers take calls from people across Scotland who need non-emergency health advice outside of normal working hours.
An NHS Lothian spokesperson said in a statement released this evening: “All necessary guidance and advice is being provided and the situation will be closely monitored.
It added: “To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, no further details will be released.”
It follows an increase in cases in recent weeks which have led to a great deal of concern amongst health officials and government.
One of the UK's most senior scientists warned that without action the UK could see as many as 50,000 new infections every day.

Sir Partick Vallance said this infection rate would translate to around 200 deaths per day.
The UK threat level from the virus has been increased to four , the first time it has changed since June, after an updated assesment on the risk coronavirus poses by the countries top doctors.
Nicola Sturgeon is expected to provide a further update later this week on fresh restrictions designed to curb the spread.
