Coronavirus Scotland: No new Covid-19 deaths as 17 cases confirmed

The Scottish Government has released the latest number of coronavirus cases in Scotland.

There were no new Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours - meaning the hospital death toll remains at 2,491.

Those testing positive for the virus are up to 18,401, a rise of 17 on yesterday.

And the number of patients getting treatment for confirmed or suspected cases of the virus in hospital stands at 316 - with nine currently in intensive care.

The update comes as a worker at a coronavirus -hit Scots care home retested positive for the bug after recovering from an earlier bout.

Yesterday it was revealed the staff member at the Home Farm care home on the Isle of Skye had been re-tested and found to have Covid-19.

NHS bosses say all staff are now being retested and the home is closed to new admissions.

Scotland has now entered Phase Three of the coronavirus lockdown with a raft of new changes in place.

Barbers and hair salons opened their doors for the first time in four months on Wednesday while pubs and restaurants welcomed customers back inside.

The easing of lockdown coincided with the latest weekly report from the National Records which found 13 people died from suspected Covid-19 cases in the week up to July 12 - a decrease of five from the previous seven day period, and the eleventh week in a row the number has fallen.
