Coronavirus Scotland: Latest figures show 615 confirmed dead while Ayrshire cases pass 400

The number of people who have died after contracting the coronavirus in Scotland has risen to 615, it has been announced today.

That is an increase of 40 from yesterday.

In the Ayrshire and Arran region another 26 people have tested positive for coronavirus.

The confirmation means that the total number of confirmed people with the deadly virus in the region has risen to 416.

Yesterday a 'technical issue' meant there was no updated figures in Ayrshire & Arran.

Data released by the Scottish Government also shows 112 residents are in hospital in the region, with 13 of those currently in intensive care.

A total of 6,358 people have now tested positive in Scotland - a daily rise of 291. 

In this country 192 patients who tested positive were in intensive care last night.

So far 32,855 tests have been conducted in Scotland with 26,497 of them coming back as negative.
