Yesterday the First Minister warned Scots to be extremely cautious of the virus after a selection of the 15 new deaths (Wednesday 14 October) were not of the very elderly.

She said: "Half of the 15 deaths I have just reported are of people under 80 and a small number are under the age of 60."

"Please do not ever think that this virus only poses a risk to the lives of the very elderly, it poses a risk to all of us."
