Coronavirus Scotland latest: 50 deaths overnight as fatalities spike with 163 new cases in Lothian

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed in today's daily coronavirus briefing that a further 1,433 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Scotland.

The number reflects 7.9% of the total number of people tested and these figures take the total number of positive cases in Scotland to 68.444.

163 of the new cases are in the NHS Lothian health board area while Greater Glasgow and Clyde recorded 602 cases.

A further 50 people who tested positive for the virus have died, taking the total number of deaths in Scotland to 2,927.

1,257 patients are in hospital in Scotland with a confirmed case of coronavirus - up three from yesterday's figures.

94 individuals are now being treated in intensive care for the virus - an increase of three from yesterday.

A total of 4,649 Scots deaths have been linked to Covid-19, official figures show.

The National Records of Scotland (NRS) figures have indicated that a total of 167 people died in Scotland in the week ending 1 November, an increase of 61 from the previous week.

The First Minister has said that Scotland has 'more work to do' in suppressing the rise of the virus and has not ruled out putting areas into Level 4 when lockdown restrictions are reviewed on Tuesday next week.
