Coronavirus Scotland: Further 22 people die from virus as hospital death toll rises to 2,353

A further 22 people have died in Scotland after testing positive for coronavirus - bringing the total number of deaths in hospitals to 2,353.

Figures released by the Scottish Government revealed the number of positive cases of Covid-19 has risen to 15,382, which is an increase of 55 compared to yesterday’s figures.

The number of people being treated for confirmed or suspected cases of the virus in hospital stands at 735 with 33 patients in intensive care.

The latest statistics were released by government officials at 2pm this afternoon - which marks the second day of some lockdown restrictions being lifted in the country.

People have been urged to abide by the regulations set by the government as people are expected to flock to Scotland's beauty spots this weekend.

Police in south Ayrshire have warned lockdown louts they'll be 'dealt with robustly' if they are found to be engaging in anti-social behaviour.
