Coronavirus Scotland: Four new cases in 24 hours and no new deaths

Scotland has recorded just four new cases of coronavirus in 24 hours as no new deaths were reported for the 10th day in a row.

Scottish Government data released on Sunday showed that just 0.2% of the 9,106 tests done in the preceding day came back positive.

The number of deaths in Scotland also remains at 2,491, with the last death by that measure - which requires a confirmed Covid-19 case - having been reported on July 16.

Sunday's new case figure is the lowest reported since July 14.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted: "Very relieved to report yet another day in Scotland with no deaths of people who had tested positive for COVID. The 4 new positive cases (0.2% of people newly tested) will be looked at closely and followed up through Test & Protect."

Despite the low case numbers in recent days, people travelling back into Scotland from Spain will be asked to self-isolate for two weeks after the country was taken off a quarantine exempt list on Saturday night.

As of Saturday night, the Scottish Government reports, 267 people were being treated in hospital for the virus, a drop of three from the previous day.

Of these cases, two are currently in intensive care.
