Coronavirus Scotland: Figures show 366 confirmed dead while 16 Ayrshire residents are treated in intensive care

The number of people who have died after contracting the coronavirus in Scotland has risen to 366, it has been announced today.

That is an increase of 70 from yesterday.

In the Ayrshire and Arran region another 16 people have tested positive for coronavirus during the last 24 hours.

The confirmation means that the total number of confirmed people with the deadly virus in the region has risen to 312.

New data released by the Scottish Government has also revealed 91 people in the region are in hospital - with 16 of those in intensive care.

Earlier we revealed 27 people with coronavirus have tragically died in Ayrshire and Arran so far.

A total of 4,565 people have now tested positive in Scotland - a daily rise of 336. 193 patients who tested positive were in intensive care last night.

So far 26,226 tests have been conducted in Scotland with 21,661 of them coming back as negative.

In England shocking figures confirmed 828 coronavirus patients have died in the last 24 hours - taking the death toll to 6,483 south of the border.
