Bainfield student flats Edinburgh: Napier university halls linked to new virus cluster

Student halls at Edinburgh Napier university have been linked to a new coronavirus cluster, health chiefs have said.

Several residents tested positive at the institution's Bainfield Apartments, constituting an outbreak.

Students who have contracted the virus are currently self-isolating as NHS Lothian Test and Protect Teams undertake contact tracing to help stop the disease from spreading reports the Sun.

Despite the new cases the university remains open and students are being asked to attend classes as normal unless they have been contacted to say otherwise.

Enhanced cleaning has been put in place at the school, NHS Lothian said, adding that students should remain vigilant and follow social distancing and mask rules.

The news comes hours after two more schools confirmed positive cases.

Holyrood RC High School said 'a number of people' had been asked to self-isolate, meanwhile Preston Tower Primary School said there had been a confirmed case in a letter to parents.
