Another 994 people in Scotland have tested positive for the coronavirus with the nation's death toll climbing again.
Data has been released by the Scottish Government this afternoon as part of its national COVID-19 daily briefing and ahead of vaccination centres being opened in Ayr, Dreghorn and Kilmarnock on Monday.
A further 60 patients, including five people from the NHS Ayrshire & Arran health board region, have died after contracting Covid which means 6,100 people have tragically passed away since March.
However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 7,902 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, January 24 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate. Across the UK, the figure was 104,371 as of last night.
The number of positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran increased by 74 to 13,344.
There are 16 people, within the health board's region, in intensive care with confirmed COVID-19 which is down one from yesterday.
In addition, the number of people in hospital with confirmed coronavirus at midnight was 227 which is the same figure as yesterday.
In terms of the rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, North Ayrshire stood at 194.4 as of Friday, January 29. In East Ayrshire, it was 184.4 while it was 135.9 in South Ayrshire.
Across Scotland as of 8.30am this morning, a total of 543,370 people had received the first dose of their Covid vaccine with 7,638 having received their second dose.
A total of 178,682 positive tests have been recorded since the end of February from 1.563 million tests carried out.
