Phase three Scotland: Exact date beauty and nail salons can finally reopen this month

Those with unkempt eyebrows rejoice: Nicola Sturgeon has issued an important announcement about phase three of lockdown.

Beautician and nail salons in Edinburgh and across Scotland have been given the green light to reopen as Nicola Sturgeon announced the Scottish Government's latest steps towards lockdown easing this afternoon.

Speaking in the Scottish parliament today, Nicola Sturgeon gave major updates on when she confirmed that beauty sevices could restart again on July 22.

Many in the beauty industry were left frustrated when the Scottish Government announced hairdressers and barbers could open from July 15 - but put the brakes on nail bars and beauty salons reopening due to social distancing measures.

Now beauticians and salon owners can prepare to have clients back in their chairs from Wednesday, July 22.

The First Minister made the announcement as she confirmed Scotland has now entered Phase Three of lockdown.

She said it is the "most significant milestone yet" but warned that the easing of such restrictions "was the highest risk change we've made so far."

Catch up on what the First Minister said in her daily briefing in our dedicated live blog.
