Coronavirus Scotland: Ayrshire cases continue to slow as nation records three deaths

A further 23 people in Ayrshire have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 24 hours as cases continue to slow.

New data released by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland also reveal that no new deaths from disease have been reported in the region.

The number of people with confirmed coronavirus in NHS Ayrshire & Arran hospitals remains unchanged at 31 while there remains fewer than five Covid patients in ICU.

Across Scotland, 692 new cases have been reported although this includes 57 historic cases in NHS Lothian, recorded between February 15 to March 4.

A further three people have died after testing positive for the virus, bringing the nation's death toll to 7,562.

There are currently 321 people battling coronavirus in Scottish hospitals; 31 in ICU.

New data show 2,249,612 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 249,252 have received their second dose.
